Acceptable Use Policy

Use ClientFinch to research businesses responsibly. Do not misuse the data, the service or other people’s information.

ClientFinch is a research tool. If you contact any business or person you find, you must:

  • comply with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and PECR;
  • have a lawful basis, such as legitimate interests, for processing any personal data;
  • identify yourself clearly and provide an easy way to opt out, and honour opt-outs promptly;
  • take extra care with sole traders and partnerships, who are treated as individuals for electronic marketing under PECR;
  • check the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) and Corporate TPS before making marketing calls.
  • scrape, crawl or bulk-download data from ClientFinch, or use bots or automated tools to access the service;
  • resell, sublicense or redistribute ClientFinch data or access as a list or database product;
  • use the service to harass, stalk, intimidate or discriminate against anyone, or to target individuals at home addresses;
  • send spam, phishing or misleading communications, or impersonate anyone;
  • attempt to access other users’ accounts or data, probe or bypass security, or overload the service;
  • share your account with others or create accounts to avoid limits or suspension;
  • store sensitive personal data (such as health information) in notes;
  • use ClientFinch for any unlawful purpose.

Company information is public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. When you reuse it, acknowledge the source and do not present it as more accurate or complete than it is.

We may investigate suspected breaches and suspend or close accounts that break this policy. Where required, we may report unlawful activity to the relevant authorities.
